I am making nian go today, a traditional Chinese New Year dish, served hot or cold.

材料/ Ingredients:
六百克水磨糯米粉 600g Glutinous rice flour
十四克澄粉 14g Wheat starch
二百毫升椰漿 200ml Coconut milk
一湯匙椰子油/生油 1tbsp Coconut oil/cooking oil
五百毫升清水 500ml Water
五百克片糖 500g Slab golden sugar
兩個蒸盤:直徑二十厘米,四厘米深 2 Aluminium container 20cm in diameter, 4cm deep
一個蒸爐(可以用普通鍋)1 steamer/wok
做法:
將清水和片糖放在鍋裡,煮溶冰糖. 攤涼後放進椰漿,攪勻. 將糯米粉和澄粉放進盆子裡,攪勻. 再將糖水倒進盆子裡,攪勻. 可以用篩和刮刀壓溶粉粒至幼滑,放入一湯匙椰子油,攪勻. 將粉漿平均倒進蒸盤內. 放入蒸爐蒸一小時。如果用鍋子蒸,便用中火蒸一小時後取出。將紅棗放在年糕上點綴.

Use a sieve and spatula to break down the lumps. Mix in coconut oil. Pour the mixture into the containers, steam for 1 hour in a steamer, or in a wok with medium heat. Place a date in the centre. Nian gao is ready.
